what is the chefs acaDemy?

In this five-day program, we offer lectures and masterclasses by leading chefs, product developers and scientists. Participants broaden and deepen their understanding of gastronomy and the food system, exploring the cultural, ecological and economic stories behind dishes through perspectives from both practice and research.

Previous editions featured contributions from chefs and experts including Nadia Zerouali, Joris Bijdendijk, Peter Klosse, René van der Weijden, Joel Broekaert, Lelani Lewis, Ira and Ayra Kip, and Joszi Smeets.

We combine theory with practice. Alongside lectures and workshops, participants go out into the field and work together on a concrete case study, gaining hands-on research experience throughout the program. At the same time, they build a valuable network and become actively involved in the LOWFOOD movement.

who can participate?

The LOWFOOD Chefs Academy is open to young and aspiring chefs eager to broaden their perspective on food.

We welcome chefs of all levels with a passion for food culture and aim to bring together a diverse group of participants.
